Old Scyene, a subsidiary of Diamond P Enterprises, is owned and operated by the Colonel, and his wife Lady Scyene, and a few sympathizing renegades.
The Colonel retired back in, well I don't rightly remember when, and needed something to do. His pod-na in life, not his horse ---- his wife, said "Get a hobby!!", so he did. He started collecting spurs, which grew to saddles, guns, and anything else "Western" that caught his fancy. Since he was running out of space in the living room, he needed a place to keep his finds. With this thought in mind, the idea of a store grew. It started out as just something to do on First Monday Weekends, after all he was retired and didn't want to work too hard. Going to First Monday was fun but you had to have "stuff" for the store which meant "you just had to go" to Cowboy Trade Shows to find "good stuff", couldn't sell just any ole' thing.
Now Lady Scyene kept on working for awhile but finally decided the Colonel was having way too much fun without her. She decided retirement was the way to go so she retired too. With her being retired, many of the trips they always wanted to make but just couldn't was now scheduled. So off the two of these retired folks go to look for "good stuff" for the store. It didn't take Lady Scyene long to get the hang of this "buying idea" and she became the chief "hagler" for the company. She has "hagled" so much for "good stuff" , they have now expanded their business to include a clothing store, Old Scyene Dry Goods and Dress Shop.
Our future plans are to add a few more stores and create our own Old West Town, Old Scyene. But in the mean time, our walk-in stores are currently located at # 41 and # 44 Possum Trail, The Mountain, Canton, Texas and we're open every First Monday Weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
Our regular business hours are 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9:00 a.m until 5:00 p.m on Sunday. Other times by appointment.
Now this First Monday thing is kinda' confusn', to Big City folks cuz we ain't open on Monday. Monday is only used to figger which weekend that we're talkin' about.
It all came about---WAY BACK in the 1800's. The circuit judge came to this little town of Canton and set up court on the First Monday of the month. So---in order to be ready for court on Monday morning---everbody came to town the weekend before.
Now, since everyone's there in town, just waitin' around, swappin' an' tradin' just came kinda natural like.. So, ya did all yer tradn' on the weekend, cuz ya took care of business on Monday.
It all worked out so good that now days they say we're the largest Trade Days in the whole world!
Now for a real shopping treat, check your calendar for the First Monday of the month and plan your Mountain shopping trip for the weekend before.
